In order for a union to be in a legal strike position, they must get their members to vote on whether they want to take a strike in the event a deal cannot be reached. This is known as a “strike vote.”
From June 12 to 15, OPSEU held a strike vote with its members. According to the union, members have now voted to strike if there is an impasse at the bargaining table.
LCBO does not want a strike. We have several bargaining dates this week where we will resume negotiations with a focus on achieving a renewal collective agreement with OPSEU that is fair for our unionized employees and helps the LCBO operate efficiently and effectively for Ontarians in a changing marketplace.
In the event that we cannot reach an agreement and OPSEU commences a strike, we are putting measures in place to ready our business and ensure continued customer service.

Pour qu’un syndicat soit en position légale de grève, il doit faire voter ses membres sur l’opportunité de se mettre en grève au cas où un accord ne serait pas trouvé. C’est ce qu’on appelle un « scrutin de grève ».
Du 12 au 15 juin, le SEFPO a organisé un scrutin de grève auprès de ses membres. D’après le SEFPO, les membres ont voté en faveur de la grève en cas d’impasse à la table des négociations.
La LCBO ne veut pas de grève. Nous avons plusieurs journées prévues cette semaine lors desquelles nous reprendrons les négociations, avec pour objectif de parvenir à une convention collective avec le SEFPO qui soit juste pour nos employés syndiqués et qui aide la LCBO à fonctionner de manière efficace pour la population ontarienne dans un marché en pleine évolution.
Si nous ne parvenons pas à un accord et que le SEFPO entame une grève, nous aurons des mesures en place pour mener nos activités et assurer la continuité du service à la clientèle.
